"Darcy, why aren’t you dancing?" Bingley called to his friend. "There are plenty of pretty girls here tonight".

Darcy looked at Elizabeth, who was standing near him. They looked at each other for a moment and then Darcy tuned away.

"She is quite pretty, but not beautiful enough to interest me", Darcy said coldly. Elizabeth laughed. "I shall never dance with Mr Dorey" she said. "He is a very proud man, I have decided to dislike him".

Mrs Bennet has five daughters and she has to find husbands for them. When a rich young man, Mr Bingley, comes to live at Netherfield Hall, Mrs Bennet is delighted. He will be the perfect husband for her eldest daughter, Jane.

Mr Bingley arrives with a friend, Mr Fitzwilliam Darcy. Darcy is very rich, handsome and proud. Miss Elizabeth Bennet is attractive, intelligent and lively. She dislikes Darcy immediately. Can love overcome pride and prejudice?

Widely considered to be Jane Austen’s greatest work, this literary classic explores themes of love, class and self-awareness.
